I have been acting on my promise to find things to occupy my days here in Aberdeen. I contacted a local charity group that rehomes dogs and am now registered as a volunteer. They have several different roles that a volunteer can play like fostering pets, dog walking, fundraising, etc. I am not sure yet what exactly I will be doing or when I will be doing it, but I am definitely excited to get to help out this type of organization. They recently had their annual fundraiser, Dog Day in the Park, in which they had several dog competitions like Best Purebreed, Pup Idol, Wiggliest Wag, and so on. Ian and I attended the event so that I could meet some of the other volunteers and learn more about what I could do to help out. While I was there they asked me to judge the Pup Idol Competition. It was so much fun because I got to play with over 20 puppies, but it was so tough to pick my favorites! I asked what I should be judging on and the other judge told me "I usually just pick the ones that I think are the cutest!" How fun is that!!! Here is a picture of me doing my serious volunteer work as a judge.

And this picture is of one of the top 6 contests, Gucci . . . isn't she a doll???

It was a great day and I really am looking forward to working with the organization.
I have also officially started my job hunt. I am meeting with a recruiter tomorrow to talk about job opportunities. I am not too excited about going back to work but I am hoping that it will be a good experience and allow me to meet some new people. I will keep you all posted on how the hunt goes, but I don't imagine it will happen too quickly as I am not planning on starting work until October because my mom is coming to visit next Tuesday! She will be here most of the month of September so I will be busy with her! I can't wait to see her and show her around Scotland!
Well check back later this week. I am working on posting pictures from our Steam Train trip and visit to the Highland Wildlife Park.
